Top Essentials for a Sustainable Summer

Jun 15, 2022

If you follow The Cheeky Panda closely (which, lets face it, you should) you will know we are BIG on sustainability. We love it, its all we talk about really and since we are already in the middle of June we thought we would introduce you to our #sustainablesummer theme at PandaHQ.

That’s right, we are planning the most sustainable summer and we think you should join us. So how do you have a sustainable summer we hear you ask? Sit back, relax and enjoy this handy blog post lovingly put together by one of our resident Cheeky Pandas…

Staycations

We are here to tell you that you don’t need to go abroad to have a nice relaxing holiday. That’s right, we said it. Plus, who wants the stress of airports anyway? Not us.

The UK is beautiful – Cornwall, York, Edinburgh, Bath – need we say more?

By booking a staycation you can save money AND save on your carbon footprint. If you’re looking to reduce your carbon impact this year, this might be a good alternative for you and don’t forget to take your sustainable essentials with you. Our bamboo handy wipes are perfect for sticky fingers after one too many Mr Whippys (WITH a flake), our plastic free pocket tissue will become your best friend during hay fever season and our super soft bamboo toilet roll is great for…. well we don’t have to tell you that do we. Reduce single use plastic

It’s tricky we know, plastic is EVERYWHERE, but think about how you can use less of it.

  • Many coffee shops offer a discount to anyone who brings a reusable cup.
  • Remember to take your own water bottle when you’re out and about – many cities, rail stations and shopping centres now have bottle refill station for anyone bringing their own.
  • Take a tote bag to the supermarket and say no to plastic bags
  • Use eco friendly straws, ditch the plastic and use sustainable alternatives instead. Not to be biased.. but we think these are the best.

Walk or cycle

Summer is a beautiful time of year and we need to spend more time outside. So rather than hopping in your car to pop to the shops, get out and stretch your legs! Walking or cycling is another easy way to reduce your carbon footprint ready for our #sustainablesummer.

Air dry your clothes

Last but not least, lets take advantage of the nice weather and use the glorious sun to dry your clothes instead of using an energy guzzling tumble dryer. Hanging your lights out in the sun can also help to keep them light (but keep your darks inside!).

That’s all for now, but don’t worry – we’ll be back soon with more tips on how to have a sustainable summer. Let us know in the comments below how you plan to be more sustainable this summertime and tag us on social media using the hashtag #sustainablesummer.

With love,

The Cheeky Panda
