How to Explore Nature Responsibly this Summer

Summer is the perfect time to immerse ourselves in the beauty of nature! Whether it is hiking, camping or a day at the beach, it is important to remember our actions can have a lasting impact on the environment. In today’s blog we’ll share some valuable tips on how to explore nature responsibly this summer, allowing you to make a positive impact on the environment!

Respect Wildlife and Their Habitats

When exploring nature, you’re a visitor in the home of many species (although don’t expect a cup of tea and biscuits). You can respect wildlife by saying hello from a distance and as much as we want to share our picnic with the nearby squirrels and birds, we shouldn’t! It might come as a shock, but scotch eggs aren’t a staple in the squirrel diet. Keep noise to a minimum to avoid causing any stress or disruption and be mindful of our ecosystem! Stay on designated paths, respect protected areas, and enjoy the beauty of nature!

Leave No Trace

This is one of the most important aspects of responsible exploration of nature – leave no trace behind you! Take everything away with you, dispose of all rubbish in designated bins – this includes things like food wrappers and water bottles, if there are no bins around then take it home with you and dispose of it there. By leaving no trace you preserve our natural environment for others to enjoy for many years to come.

Sustainable Transport

We always love this one – sustainable transport is always one of the easiest ways to reduce your carbon footprint and protect the environment! Consider where your destination is, and what the most environmentally friendly mode of transport is! Whether its public transport, sharing a car with friends or even cycling, if possible, you can get your adventure off to a sustainable start.

Research and Plan Ahead

Before heading out on your adventure in nature, take the time to research ahead! You can find out whether there are any regulations, restrictions, or guidelines in place in the area you’ll be visiting. These restrictions are in place to protect the environment – for example, some areas may have limitations on camping, hiking trails or wildlife interaction! Learning about these rules beforehand you’ll be better equipped to make responsible choices during your trip!

Exploring the great outdoors this summertime is the best way to connect with the beautiful world around us, by following these top tips you can ensure the impact on our environment is minimal whilst enjoying everything nature has to offer.
