World NGO Day
On the 27th of February we celebrate World NGO Day. NGO stands for Non-Governmental Organisation and is a group that works independently of any government, they are usually non-profit charities that work to support societal and political issues!
The purpose of World NGO Day is to celebrate NGOs all around the world and the people behind them. There are over 17,000 organisations in England and Wales with 6,912 in London alone! This World NGO Day, we thought we would talk to you about a charity we like to support here at PandaHQ.
Being a certified B Corp, it’s important to us that we balance both profit and purpose, and we do by donating a portion of our revenue each year to causes that we align with our business. If you’re a long-standing supporter of The Cheeky Panda you might know that we sell loo roll, and sometimes, quite a lot of it! That’s why we know how important proper toilets are.
Toilets (and toilet roll!) are an everyday essential to us, but for millions of people in some of the poorest communities globally, access to a toilet can be lifesaving. That’s why we support Toilet Twinning, a charity that, through generous donations helps impoverished families around the world to build toilets, gain access to clean water, and learn about hand washing and other hygiene principles. By donating to Toilet Twinning, your toilet and/or tap is ‘twinned’ with the one you help build where it’s needed most.
In 2022, the amazing people at Toilet Twinning, thanks to your generous donations were able to twin 16,250 toilets and taps, 1,687 fridges and 2,000 bins! They also added 8 new Toilet Twinned towns to their portfolio, continuing to spread their support to those who need it the most.
Could you imagine living without a toilet? For just £60 you can twin your toilet or tap, and you’ll even be sent the exact coordinates of where it’s located!
