Meat Free May
Meat Free May. A 31-day challenge from the 1st-31st where participants give up all meat and animal products to help save the planet, reduce pressures on animals and become healthier!
At The Cheeky Panda we believe we’re not just your favourite bamboo brand, we’re also a movement. We were the first UK Vegan Society certified bamboo toilet brand, and we’re very proud of it. So, with our Vegan roots, this challenge is right up our street!
But why should you try it? Well…
1. Current meat production is MASSIVELY damaging for the environment. It’s the biggest cause for deforestation globally, wiping out habitats and causing the extinction of thousands of species. Meat Free May is a chance to be kind to our animals!
2. Meat also has the equivalent yearly emissions of cars, trucks and planes combined, contributing vast amounts to global warming.
3. And as for overfishing… our seas cannot replenish the amount we are fishing meaning there are are high risks of extinction, with 1/3 of all sharks and rays at risk!
4. A meat-free diet is super healthy! Cutting out meat can have loads of benefits such as lower cholesterol and reduced risk of heart disease.
5. It’s easier than ever! From restaurants, Tik Tok accounts and meat-free meats, vegan eating has exploded. There are loads of ways to enjoy your favourite meat-based meals, just without the meat. Ever heard of an oyster mushroom? No? Well, get Googling!
6. Kind to the planet… and the pocket! When you are doing your shopping have you seen how much meat is? Crazy right! Switching to meat-free alternatives can help cut down on those shopping bills without compromising on taste.
7. Recipes galore! Maybe you are thinking of trying it out but don’t know where to start? It can feel like a minefield balancing taste, nutrition and making sure none of your ingredients come from animals. Meat Free May’s webpage has got a load of tips and tricks to get you through the month!
So Cheeky Pandas, ready to take on the challenge? Make sure to shout about it loud and proud on your socials and tag us – we can’t wait to see all your creative use of chickpeas (or insert other favourite bean!) And if you need any more info, then click here for Meat Free May’s website!
Cheeky regards and good luck!
